Welcome to my personal page. I’m Professor of Applied Linguistics in the Department of Languages and Linguistics at York St John University in the UK, where I also lead the Language and Identities in InterAction (LIdIA) Research Unit.

On this site you’ll find documents, including talks and articles, links to sites of interest, photo galleries, my CV, and the glossary from my second book, Introduction to Language and Linguistics.

My third book, Mapping Applied Linguistics (co-authored with Patrick Smith and Rachel Wicaksono), was published in 2011. Writing the book inspired us to launch MAPPLING.COM, an online applied linguistics community. Our online course for English teachers, sponsored by the British Council, was launched in 2013.

I co-authored the 2nd edition of Introducing Language and Use (2014) with Andrew Merrison, Aileen Bloomer, and Patrick Griffiths. My first book, Morphology and Mind, was re-issued in 2014. My York St John page is here.
